Elizabeth ''Liz'' Hamby Warner, 55, of Reno, NV and formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Monday, June 11, 2012 after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Liz was born in Roanoke Rapids, the daughter of the late Anne Thompson Hamby and John Frank Hamby. She was a 1975 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and a graduate of East Carolina University. She also obtained her M. A. degree at the University of Las Vegas.

She is survived by her sister, Sarah H. Dickens, of Bumpas, VA; her brother, Bill Hamby and his wife, Dianne, of Roanoke Rapids; her niece, Elizabeth ''Liz'' Henry; her nephew, John Patton; her uncle, Wes Hamby and his wife, Susan; her cousin, Jennifer H. Ford; and many, many friends.

Liz requested that no memorial services be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ''The Liz Warner Love of Learning Library'' through Mackin Educational Resources.
